The earthquake an tsunami occurred in Japan in 2011, it was called by the Japan Meteorological Agency as The great East Japan Earthquake, and occurred on March 11 at 14:46:23 (local hour) with 9.0 magnitude on the Ritcher scale. The Japan Meteorological Agency said, “The earthquake created a tsunami waves up to 40.5 meters.” and they also said that the japanese population had suffered the most powerful earthquake in Japan to date, as well as the fifth most powerful in the world of all earthquakes measured to date .

The Geological Survey of the United States said, “The first magnitude was calculated at 7.9 degrees, which was later increased to 8.8, then to 8.9 degrees and finally 9.0 degrees on the Ritcher scale.” The earthquake lasted about six minutes according to seismologists. The USGS said the earthquake also had happened because of a shift near the area of the interface between the subducting plate and the Pacific plate and the North American plate.

Two days before, this earthquake was preceded by another important seism occurred on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 2:45:18 in the same area of the east coast of Honshu , Japan; and it had an intensity of 7.2 on the Ritcher scale at a depth of 14.1 kilometers. Also, that day the authorities of the Japan Meteorological Agency said that they had been giving a tsunami warning, but only locally, for the east coast of this country. On February 1 had entered Shinmoe volcano activity in the province of Miyazaki, this situation indicated a reactivation of the tectonic before the eartquake.

The Japanese National Police Agency said, “We confirmed the death toll was 15,845, 3,380 missing people, 5,893 casualties and 92.5 % drowned.” The victims over 60 years were the most affected. Save the Children said that about 100,000 children were uprooted from their homes, and many had been separated from their families because the earthquake occurred when they were in the school. Now, that 236 children are orphaned by the disaster.

Any natural disaster raises a feeling of solidarity in people who have not been affected. Nationalism or patriotism shown through material assistance after a disaster. In part, the survivors are believed responsible for having lost their loved ones, but they know they have survived by his qualities that can range from physical strength or some divine desire.
