Alternate Ending Fahrenheit

When we stopped during the emergency i saw that the house in front of us was my house. Beatty was standing there right behind me and told me " burn this house, we aint leaving until you burn it"-but this is my house i replied

-i know, thats why we are burning it, i am also a hidden reader and so is everyone else at the station, we were waiting to see if you were one of us so that our secret remains concealed, we are burning your house so that the revolution may begin.

It was really hard for me to burn my house, all my life was there but i didnt care, i was about to start a new life.

After i burnt my house we left to the station and everyone congratulated me for being one of them, we drank and hold a small reading party in which everyone read their favorite book. I read the book i stole from that old lady’s house from the other day. But there was one thing that was passing through my mind while everyone was reading their books. I couldnt believe that we burned houses and even have casualties because of the books when we were actually using them. The party was over and everyone went to sleep ready to begin the revolution.

The next day we woke up and started to put secret ads on the streets for people who wanted to read, we would be holding secret reunions in which books were going to be read for everyone.

In the afternoon a lot of people arrived to the lecture, i had never thought that so many people were interested in books since the government banished them. We read the “Adan and Eve” passage of the bible then we analized it. People really enjoyed having the opportunity of reading the books, but we were always nervous about the police coming on.

When everyone was leaving a police officer came to the secret door, he was really tall and strong, carrying a shotgun and his badge, beatty opened the door. Everyone at the base were really nervous, we were screwed our plan was down. The police officer asked beatty if we were holding an ilegal reunion in which beatty answered with a no, then the officer lowered his hand into his pistol holster and asked beatty again but this time beatty answered with a yes, then the officer asked beatty when was the next lecture, he wanted to attend, we were all surprised. His name was Mr. Smith he was a teacher at a military university, he was taken away from the books and he wanted to have the opportunity of reading again. He offered us protection from his police friends. We took the offer.

We all went for a walk to the park, everyone was looking at us and the police officers were acting strange like if they were suspecting of our lectures, we sat there and saw the owls, the police officers from the park came close to us asking for Captain beatty, we told the officers where he was and left the park.
