“Fly away home”

Amy lived in New Zeland, but when she was 9 years old she went to live with her father to Canada because her mother had a car accident and died.

At first, she didn’t want to go to that house because she didn’t spend much time with her father. Also it was an ugly country house, and it rained almost everyday. It was a very messy house.

One morning, she woke up and she found a strange situation outside the house. She saw a very big thing that moved, she didn’t know what it was so she climbed a tree and could see that it was her father who had big wings in his body. He was trying to fly.

As she was very bored, she went to explore the farm. Under a fallen tree she found a nest with goose eggs. She decided to take them and take care of them. She gave them heat with a lamp. She was very happy to find them.

The first thing that she did when she come back home from school was to go to see the eggs. One day, she fell asleep surroundeb by the eggs. That day her father and Susan (his girlfriend) had been looking for her and she was in the stable. Amy asked them if she could stay with the geese and they said ok. Amy was worried because Glen (the ranger) wanted to cut the geese’s wings in order they can’t fly.

Her father realized that this was a big problem, but with the help of David and Barry, they decided to build a glider to demostate that birds can migrate south. This was not going to be easy because the geese wanted to stay with Amy. They told their idea to Dr.Killian who said that if birds land on a certain date, the land will be theirs.

They practised with the glider and the geese a lot. Finally, they were ready to fly away.

Many journalists were recording the amazing journey. Amy and Thomas were flying below the glider to avoid hunters. A lady offered them a home yo stay, this lady recognized Amy because she seen her on television.

In their last day of trip, Susan, David and Barry went to the bird reservation and when they arrived they found a crowd of people who were waiting for Amy and the geese. She finally achieved her goal and landed safely. People were excited and they couldn’t stop clapping.

The following spring, one evening, Amy heard noises that came from the water. She opened the window and saw that her geese were there. They had returned! She began to call his dad and Susan. Everyone was very excited about this.
