The Prince And The Pauper

The Prince and the Pauper is a story about two boys who were born at the same time in the same city, although in completely different situations. One of the boys, Tom Canty, was a poor boy who lives at Offal Court with his parents, sisters, and grandmother. His father and grandmother were very mean and they force the Canty’s to be beggars, and if they did bad they would give them a beating. The other boy, Edward Tudor, was the Prince of Wales, he lived at the palace and he also had a sister and a cousin who was very close to him too. Both of the boys always had the curiosity to have a different life. One day they made their curiosity become real. Tom was outside the palace and Edward saw him being treated bad by the guards so he told him to come inside. They exchanged their outfits and they both had the same idea to trade places, but Tom respected Edward and did not said nothing, but Edward ran outside after hiding the royal seal.

Both boys tried to convince the people that they were not who they were standing for, Tom was not the prince and Edward certainly not a poor beggar, but they only thing that they achieve from this was to be called crazy. They both met people who helped them adjusted. For Tom it was the people who worked in the palace, but especially the prince’s whipping boy. For Edward, was Miles Hendon, he was a man who rescued him from Tom’s father, from a group of thieves, from Hugo, and from prison one time. The other time, Miles was fooled by his brother who sends him and Edward to prison. Edward had known that his father, the King was dead, but he did not know that there was a King already, Tom. Tom was very preoccupied being the King, since he did not know anything of what to do, but he managed to do it. Edward, when he was in prison he met a servant who had worked for the Hendon’s which told them a lot of information about Miles’ brother and also that there was a coronation for the king very soon. Before they got out of prison, Miles received many hits and he was very hurt, he took all this with bravery, which Edward recognized and later thanked for.

On the day of the coronation, and Tom was headed to the place where it was being held. On his way there he were on a horse and was passing in between the crowd, there he saw his mother. When they saw each other, she reacted and ran to him, but he just said that he did not know who she was. When he did this he feel very bad and was sad. Edward and Miles were already out of prison and were going straight to were the coronation was happening. When they got there Edward went up to where Tom was and demanded that he was the one who was the real king and that he should be crowned. Tom was very glad to see his friend and helped him prove to everybody that Edward was the King. The people began to say that Tom was an impostor but the king, Edward, said that he is his friend. After the coronation, King Henry gave the deserved recognition to his loyal friend, Miles
