The story describes the growth of Augie March from childhood to maturity quite stable. Augie , with his brother Simon , and George are not mentally ill father and was raised by his mother who is losing her sight , and a grandmother - like border tyrannical very humble circumstances in the rough parts of Chicago . Augie derived from one situation to another in a freewheeling way -employment , women, homes , education and lifestyle.

The path of Augie March seems to be made partly yes and partly by chance comes around . In the lifestyle that goes from near adoption by a wealthy couple who spoil , to a struggle for existence stealing books and helping friends in a desperate situation . Its most unusual adventure is your flight to Mexico with wild and irrepressible Thea trying to catch lizards with an eagle . Thea Augie tries to convince you to join her in this seemingly impossible task .

His works include general assistance to the Einhorn slightly damaged , helping dog training company , working for his brother in a coal tip , and it works for the Congress of Industrial Organizations until finally joins the merchant navy war.

Augie attracts and engages with a number of different women. First an acquaintance in his youth , which promises a rich cousin of the wife of his brother. However, by a scandal not of his fault , it is discarded. After a casual affair with Sophie , a Greek hotel maid , he is swept by Thea , whom he had known when he lived with Renlings rich and predicting their relationship even though he loved his sister. After the fiasco in Mexico , where he suffered a terrible accident on a horse , he and Thea began distancing , he spends his time playing cards and hunting for snakes and lizards in the mountains. Its inevitable division arrived the night he agreed to drive to another woman, Stella , to another town to escape her troubled boyfriend . After the break , Augie returned to Chicago and picked up again with Sophie until he joined the merchant marine and heading to New York. Stella There he met again and married her .
