Life is Beautiful

This movie relates the story of a man who uses his humor to get the girl he loves and then has to learn to use the same trade to keep his son alive during the Holocaust

In late 1930s, Arazzo,Italy, Guido, a Jewish man, uses humor and coincidence to win over, Dora an Italian schoolteacher, who is going to marry another man. Guido enchants her with "Buongiorno Principessa" every time they bump into each other together. The get married and have a child name Giosué, a happy and playful five year old.

One day the Germans arrest Guido and his son, and take them to a concentratoin camp. Dora decides to go to because she doesn’t want to be “safe at home when she knows her husband and son are unsafe in the camp, and Guido is devastated to see his non-Jewish wife boards the train. To protect his son from the evil truth, Guido tells Giosué that they are playing a game; Guido says that they must win 1,000 points to win a real tank and go back home. Guido must complete some "tasks" for the camp "moderators".

When a German officer requires a translator, Guido steps forward and makes up the rules of the game, that there is no crying, no wanting mom, no saying you are hungry and playing the games that they are supposed to played. As time passes Guido is forced to create more activities because all the children are gone and Giosué is starting to believe that they are not playing a game and that there is no tank for them at the end. One of the games they play is staying quiet. A German soldier sighted him and Guido talking and started calling Giosué over to eat because she thought Giosué was a German kid, so Guido tells him that they are very close to winning and that the rule of this game is to remain in silence and so Giosué stays in silence for the rest of the time until he sees his Dad.

Guido was invited by his friend Dr. Lessing, German friend with who Guido played a riddle game back in Arezzo,Italy when he was a weiter, Dr. Lessing gave Guido an oportunitie to get Giouse out of the restaurant. It was hard because Giosué saw his father and started talking and a German servant saw them so he wet to tell on them and when he came back with superiors he is amazed because all the children in the room are talking in the same way Giosué was talking making the servant look like a fool.

Is the end of the “game” or in this case the end of World War II, The germans are going crazy in their last attepmt to get rid of all the Jews before the ally troops arive, Germans. Guido hides Giosué in a junction box and he tells Giosué that everyone is looking for him and that he must stay quiet in there until everything is in complete silence.
