Pacific Alliance Countries to Host CEO Summit on Business and Investment Growth
Heads of State from Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru to meet with business and industry leaders to discuss opportunities created through the Pacific Alliance
MIAMI (PA) – September XX, 2013: The heads of state of the four Pacific Alliance countries – Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru – will meet with business and industry leaders on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, to discuss how their partnership has fostered economic growth and integration, the Alliance announced today. The CEO Summit of the Pacific Alliance will provide insight into how the international partnership has increased foreign direct investment in all four member nations, as well as to discuss how the relationships will develop in the future.
The Pacific Alliance, formed in 2011, is a political, economic and cooperative agreement established to foster growth, development and competitiveness for its member nations. The Alliance allows for easier flow of goods, services, capital and people among the countries, enabling the nations to penetrate new markets, such as the Asia Pacific, and to attract new business. Between 2011 and 2012, FDI in the four countries increased by a total of 19.8 percent, and the most recent World Bank Doing Business rankings placed Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru as the top four in Latin America.
Updates such as this make it easier for international companies to benefit from the diverse array of exports available from Pacific Alliance countries. Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru offer everything from energy and agribusiness products to manufactured goods and outsourcing options. Through the Alliance and additional international agreements, such as the U.S.-Colombia Free Trade Agreement, Colombia has become a major source of items such as flowers, textiles and business services.
The CEO Summit of the Pacific Alliance will take place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York in conjunction with the U.N. General Assembly. President Sebastian Piñera of Chile, President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón of Colombia, President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico and President Ollanta Humala of Peru will be honored and available to answer questions.
