Domino's Pizza is a multinational fast food company specializing in pizzas. It is currently the second largest chain of this kind in the United States and has more than 10,000 franchised stores in over 60 countries.1 2 is headquartered in the city of Ann Arbor, Michigan, near Ann Arbor. March 4.
The company was founded in 1960 in Ypsilanti (Michigan) by Tom Monaghan, and over the years was to expand its business across the country. Since 1998 belongs to the equity fund Bain C apital, and en2004 began trading on the Exchange.

In 1960, Tom Monaghan and his brother James bought "DomiNick's" a small pizzeria in Ypsilanti (Michigan) for $ 900, and started working on it. Soon, his brother James sold half of its business for a second hand Volkswagen Beetle, and so Tom took all business.1
When did two more stores in the state of Michigan, Tom renamed in 1965 their establishments as "Domino's Pizza", adopting as a domino logo symbolizing the three original premises. In 1967 he opened his first local franchisee chain and soon began to grow, reaching over ten years have 200 stores throughout the United States. The group achieved much popularity in 1973 thanks to an advertising technique subsequently imitated by other brands, which guaranteed a free pizza at home if it took more than 30 minutes entregarse.5
In 1975 the group had to stand trial with the sugar Amstar Corporation, maker of Domino Sugar, alleging that the pizzeria has violated its trademark rights. The lawsuit lasted five years, and was finally settled in favor of Domino's Pizza, which could maintain its brand comercial.6 In 1981 the group opened its 500th hotel, and in 1983 reached 1,000 stores with local first outside the United States: one Winnipeg (Canada) and one in Queensland (Australia).
In 1988, Domino's came to a Spanish speaking country, when it opened its first store in Bogotá (Colombia) .7 Later spread to other countries such as Mexico and Guatemala (1989), Venezuela (1992), Ecuador and Peru (1995) . With over 7,000 locations open worldwide, Tom Monaghan in 1998 sold 93% of the company to private equity fund Bain Capital 1,000 million dollars and announced his retirada.8
In 2004 the company began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, and in 2006 opened his establishment number 8000. In 2009, Domino's renews its menu to include the United States offers as sausages or pasta, and introduces elements for the consumer as monitored in "real time" preparing your pizza via internet.
