INTRODUCTION
According to Ninemeier and Perdue a midscale restaurant is: “A sit-down restaurant offering alcoholic beverages that markets to singles, couples, and businesspersons with check averaging lower than that of an upscale restaurant and higher than that of a family-service restaurant in its geographic area” (Hospitality Operations: Careers in the World's Greatest Industry, 2004).
Having this on mind, the authors did a visit to an hotel in the metropolitan area of the city with the purpose of estimate which type of restaurant it holds –Fast Food, Midscale or Upscale–, and moreover to acquire other useful information in regard to amplify our knowledge and to perform this research.
The lodging chose was the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel. This is a chain of hotels trademarked by the Hilton Worldwide, and these are considered to be upscale mid-priced hotels that are designed for both business and leisure travelers. Nevertheless, on continuation it’ll be presented if this description matches with what was seen on the visit.
HILTON GARDEN INN HOTEL
Hilton Garden Inn Hotel is an accommodation conveniently located just 12 miles from the Panamá Tocumen International Airport (PTY); in addition, it’s only a five-minute walk from the Metro de Panamá station near the Iglesia del Carmen. Specifically this hotel is on Eusebio A. Morales Street with 49 A. West Street.
With great facilities as an outdoor whirlpool and fitness center, this 24-hour business center hotel offers everything the guests need for making their stay comfortable and successful.
One of the main services it presents is The Garden Grill Restaurant which is a casual cuisine restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. It’s open for general public from 12pm to 10:30 pm, nevertheless it’s open since 8am for mainly give breakfast to the guests. And this was clearly the authors of this investigation’s objective.
On the visit made this past June 4th the team got a chance to speak with the Chef Oscar Barreto who provided helpful information for this research. This can be summarized on three principal points:
1. The Garden Grill Restaurant it’s a Midscale Restaurant.
