INTRODUCTION
In this homework, we will find out the properties of probability and normal distributions. I personally would like to know more about these topics and more characteristics of them to understand better and have a better development in my future statistics exams.
SUMMARY
Probability
Properties of probability distribution
• The probability of each outcome in the sample space is a real number between 0 and 1 (inclusive).
• The probabilities of all the outcomes add to 1.
• We can compute the probability of any event E by adding the probabilities of all the outcomes in E.
Normal Distributions
The normal distribution is the most common example of how data would appear if we created a frequency histogram where the x axis represents the values of scores in a distribution and the y axis represents the frequency of scores for each value.
Properties of a normal distribution
• Forms a symmetric bell-shaped curve
• 50% of the scores lie above and 50% below the midpoint of the distribution
• Curve is asymptotic to the x axis
• Mean, median, and mode are located at the midpoint of the x axis
CONCLUSION
The probability is a function we use to calculate the chances we have to get something.
Now that we know the properties of probability and normal distribution, we can understand better these topics for further exercises or exams.
