QlikView 11
Industry Usage Scenarios
Prepared by Market Development and Product Marketing
October 11, 2012
Introduction
Background
With the release of QlikView 11, many new features have been made available that drive value for business users, app developers, and IT administrators. For development and IT, feature value propositions tend to be consistent regardless of industry. However, for business user audiences, the value of QlikView 11 features can only really be articulated in context – meaning that without specific use cases in specific industries, statements about value tend to be too abstract in nature.
Purpose
To accompany the release of QlikView 11, the Market Development and Product Marketing teams have created a set of QlikView 11 usage scenarios for various industries and business functions. These example scenarios are intended to be used by sales, marketing, and partners to help a specific audience answer the question “why does this feature matter to me?”
This document does not cover every possible use of the new features in all industries. Rather the goal is to provide examples that are close enough to use in real world situations, to serve as conversation starters in working with customers on how to best solve their unique problems. In addition, because the QlikView11 features are new, these examples are forward looking – intended to illustrate possible scenarios and not necessarily ones that have been implemented by customers.

This document is organized by industry, and includes (for each industry) a usage scenario for some or all of the business-centric QlikView 11 themes. The following themes and features are represented:

During a weekly sales and operations planning meeting being held at a global food and beverage manufacturer, the VP of supply chain gets an urgent text message from his director of plant operations in Argentina. It has just hit the newswire that a category one hurricane is scheduled to hit South America where the company has several large production facilities. If reports are accurate, the storm could strike land in 36 hours. The decision is made to immediately begin contingency planning as the plants at risk are scheduled to produce three of the company's best selling items for their largest retail customer in the United States. Should the worst-case scenario occur, production will cease and on-time deliveries will be jeopardized.
