The supply chain sector despite being in constant innovation today, has always had problems regarding the logistics of the service they provide because of many factors such as poor coordination, product overruns, and so its product shortage. Other thing that I think makes a great impact and that also the text mentions, is the lack of decision which is an important factor affecting managers or persons responsible for this work. Other point that I consider important is the demand of a product that affects a supply chain and how the type of product is related to other type of supply chain; this is the case of innovative and functional products stated on the text and also the most important resolution which is the strategy people in charge should apply to reach new levels of satisfaction and overcome losses.
The relation between the reading and classes is a tight one due the content, because we are talking about how a supply chain works and what can we do to generate a strong and good supply chain strategy also the different factors that affect this elements and of course the importance of choosing a right supply chain (Impact of Strategic Decisions) for our products which can result on our success or failure. Nowadays the success on this sector depends on the positive innovation considering the most important factors that may affect these elements (impact) always considering the expectation of the clients and our expectations itself as the reading and the class work states.
Example of the Best Supply Chain Innovations of All-Time
The Ocean Shipping Container: It is hard to imagine today, but until the mid-1950s, there was no standard way to ship products on ocean carriers, and most were shipped on whatever container or platform the producing company deemed best. The result was terribly inefficient handling on both sides of the equation, poor space utilization on the cargo ships, and high logistics costs. Enter Malcom McLean, legendary logistics entrepreneur and visionary who invented the standard steel shipping container first implemented in 1956 at the port of New Jersey. Someone would have thought of it eventually, but McLean's invention started the explosion in global trade.
This is an important example of innovation that leads us to the start. What is the best supply chain for our product?
