Subject: EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AS A BEHAVIOR FOR SUCCESS
Currently, within a highly dynamic environment, people's technical skills alone prove insufficient; it is imperative to secure employees or people's motivation for goal attainment. To achieve this, leaders necessitate Emotional intelligence (EI). The companies or society need emotionally intelligent leaders with the ability to perceive, understand and manage their own emotions and those of others. Understanding and controlling emotions could play an important role in positive outcomes in people's lives and work environments. Those with Emotional intelligence (EI) would have better social and emotional competencies, which translates into key success behavior.
One argument is that business and social environments are dynamic owing to constant interaction of a variety of factors, including technological changes and globalization. Therefore, it is essential for achieving success to identify these environments and adapt to them skillfully. The research indicates that a changing environment can impact an individual's emotions, potentially leading to negative feelings and subsequent resistance. Conversely, those with an understanding of these situations face challenges with a greater capacity for adaptation, flexibility, and emotional control (Huy, 1999, P.335). When individuals encounter organizational or city changes, their attitudes and behaviors may be affected and subsequently contribute to their stance towards the change. Moreover, developing the skill to identify possibilities with a level of self-awareness and emotional control can aid in identifying new actions and assuming a leadership role in every situation. Therefore, Emotional intelligence (EI) emerges as an indispensable tool for a key skill such as resilience to change, decision making, and the stress associated with change. As such, vital aspects in a dynamic environment.
Additionally, many managers think that possessing intelligence skills provides an advantage, leading to their preference in the job market. For instance, communication and positive social interactions, consequently, enhance their ability to have adaptive behaviors to complete tasks. Different studies have been made to determine how leaders with a high level of Emotional intelligence (EI) can create friendly work environments and highly effective teams (Jones and Brazzel, 2006). Other studies with different approaches have been conducted that Emotional intelligence (EI) represents up to 75% of success at work and in social life (Thornton and Byham, 1982). Recognized leaders have made a significant impact on work performance by using their emotional intelligence (EI). Furthermore, many famous people, known for their leadership, have effectively inspired team members to create a positive and productive work environment. All this evidence demonstrates that these competencies provide people with the ability to know their audience and understand their environment. Due to the benefits of these skills, managers prefer these types of people in their life or work teams.
