Description:
Passive Sampling devices (PSDS) normally associated with personal monitoring were studied as less costly alternate or supplemental methods for the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP). nnular denuder samplers (ADSs) were also evaluated during this study. he PSDs and ADSs were compared to the methods used at one of the remote sites in the National Dry Deposition Network (NDDN). t the 1991 EPA/AWMA Symposium six months of comparison data was presented. hese data showed that the PSDs and the ADSs could provide data that was within +/- 20 percent of the NDDN methods. or example, the Ozone-PSD was within +/- 10 percent of a real time uv ozone monitor. his intercomparison of methods was extended for an entire year to determine the effect of seasonal temperature and humidity changes. his report specifically provides data from November 1990 to October 1991 at the NDDN site in Prince Edward, VA. he following analytes were monitored on a weekly basis. 3, SO2, NO, NO2, HONO3, HONO, NH3, SO4, and NO3. ost comparisons of PSDs and ADSs versus current NDDN methodology will also be discussed.
