Organizational climate

Organizational climate (sometimes known as Corporate Climate) is the process of quantifying the “culture” of an organization, it precedes the notion of organizational culture. It is a set of properties of the work environment, perceived directly or indirectly by the employees, that is assumed to be a major force in influencing employee behavior

Within a broad conception of the organizational climate, the behaviors and attitudes of the employees are influenced by something more than the provision and the personal ability, this influence on the behavior is generated by the organization and a specific social context. Organizations influence the attitudes and behaviors of individuals and groups.

The organizational climate is a filter through which pass the objective phenomena (structure, leadership, decision-making), therefore, assessing the organizational climate is measured how the organization was perceived. The characteristics of the organizational system generate a certain organizational climate. This has an impact on the motivations of the members of the organization and on their corresponding behavior. This behavior obviously has a great range of consequences for the organization, for example, productivity, satisfaction, rotation, adaptation, etc.

With the study of organizational climate in a company, is intended to identify a parameter on a general level about the perception that individuals have within the organization and the organization for them. Additionally provide feedback on the processes that determine the organizational behaviors, allowing planned changes both in attitudes and behaviors of the members, as in the organizational structure or in one or more of the subsystems that make up.( Litwin and Stinger (1978)
