Bella Essay

Bella is an American movie that talks about abortion and adoption. It tells the story of Nina, a New York City waitress, and her co-worker José, a cook.

It starts when Nina arrives late for work for the third day in a row and Manny the owner of the restaurant fires her. Jose, her co-worker runs behind her and Nina tells him she is getting late because she is pregnant and has discomforts and is considering abortion. He takes her to his parents' house and introduces her to his parents and brother, after that he takes her to his old car and starts telling her that he had been driving his car, he was going to a press conference because he was a famous football palyer, when a girl pops out of nowhere and he accidently hit and killed the little girl. He was sentenced to four years in prison. After that he had never play football again.

José and Nina have dinner at his parents' house during which Nina finds out that Manny was adopted because his parents could not have kids at the beginning of their marriage. José takes Nina to the beach where she tells José of how her father's death when she was twelve caused her and her mother severe emotional pain. Since Nina had no siblings and spent her childhood taking care of her emotionally crippled mother, she tells José how fortunate he is to have a loving family. The next day, before they each go their own way, Nina says she needs a friend to be there for her the next week because she is going to abort.

Several years later, José is playing on a beach with a young girl, Bella. Nina is arriving to the beach to meet them when she stares at the little girl she starts carrying and asks Bella if she knew who she was, Bella answered: “you’re my moma”.

In conclusion this movie relates to the class because Jose is defending the principle Respect for human life and he succeeds. He made Nina change her mind about aborting her baby and instead she gave her in adoption and Jose adopted her. Eduardo Verástegui is Jose in the movie he was a singer when he fist stared his career than realized that his life didn’t have sense, so he decided to quit his job, he made a promise to God that only he will return to work if he didn’t made things that would disrespect his family or God. He is a good example of a good human being and conversion.
