Replacing the wiper traction
[pic 2]
Wiper traction
The wiper traction (article number 753042) is the leak-proof connection between the (coupling of the) wiper motor outside the UV chamber and the drive spindle inside the UV chamber. The wiper traction must be replaced periodically, or immediately if a leakage occurs (scaling is an indicator of this). It is not possible to replace only the oil seal rings and the slide bearings of the wiper traction.
Below we use the term ‘motor flange’ for the flange on the side of the wiper traction.[pic 3]
- Place the unit in maintenance mode (software-wise and with the circuit breaker of the lamp power control off).
- Remove the (long) protective cover on the side of the wiper traction. The cover is attached with 4 quick-release screws that only need to be turned a quarter of a turn. Also disconnect the earth wire, so that the cover does not hang from the earth wire (which can break the earth connection).
- Remove the plate with the wiper motor (3x M6 nuts). This releases the plastic spacer from the coupling. Store this in a clean place.
Make sure that the connecting wire of the wiper motor is not subjected to mechanical load.
- Remove the coupling from the wiper traction shaft (2x M3 hexagon socket head screws)
- Carefully remove the wiper traction (2x M4 hexagon socket head screws).
- Press the new wiper traction into the motor flange. Make sure that the flat end of the wiper traction falls into the slot in the end of the drive spindle.
Screw the wiper traction on to the motor flange (2x M4 hexagon socket head screws with washers).
- Slide the coupling on to the wiper traction shaft. Do not tighten the coupling yet.
- Slide the plate with the wiper motor on to the 3 supports, placing the spacer of the coupling into the coupling. Screw the nuts with the washers on to the 3 supports.
- Screw the coupling on to the wiper traction shaft in such a way that there is a clearance the thickness of a nail between the coupling and the spacer.
- Check whether the coupling can be rotated smoothly and lightly by hand without making any noise.
- Place the unit in operation and check whether the wiper movement can be performed without problems or noise.
Replacing the wiper motor
This instruction describes the replacement of a Berger Lahr RSM764-38FaK by a Rotek SGM65/30-6 A200.

Disassembling wiper motor
- Set the unit to maintenance mode (software-wise and lamp power control circuit breaker off); if present, place the main switch to the 0 position.
- Remove the (long) protective cover on the side of the wiper traction. The cover is attached with 4 quick-release screws that only need to be turned a quarter of a turn. Also disconnect the earth wire, so that the cover does not hang from the earth wire (which can break the earth connection).
- Remove the motor cover in order to be able to disconnect the connecting cable from the motor.
- Remove the plate with the wiper motor (3x M6 nuts). This releases the plastic spacer from the coupling. Keep the M6 nuts, washers and the spacer in a clean place; these components need to be reused.
- Remove the coupling from the shaft of the old motor (2x M3 hexagon socket head screws).
Assembling wiper motor
[pic 5]
- wiper traction
- plastic spacer of coupling
- plate with wiper motor
- Slide the coupling on the shaft of the new motor (art. no. 754375). Do not tighten the coupling yet.
- Slide the plate with the new wiper motor on to the 3 supports, placing the spacer of the coupling (figure above, part B) between the wiper motor and wiper traction coupling (figure above, part A). Screw the nuts with the washers on to the 3 supports.
Priva[pic 6]
- Screw the coupling on to the wiper motor shaft in such a way that there is a clearance the thickness of a nail between the coupling and the spacer (2x M3 hexagonal screws). Attention, be sure that these screws are tightened well!
- Check whether the coupling can be rotated smoothly and lightly by hand without making any noise.
- Remove the ferrule from the ground wire of the connecting cable. Strip off 0,5cm isolation from the wire with an end wire stripper. Assemble a new ferrule terminal to the ground wire.
- Remove the engine cover from the new wiper motor with the M4 screw at the rear end. Store this screw in a secure place.
- Feed the connecting cable through the hole (marked with A in figure below).
[pic 7]
- Slide the engine cover and tight connector over the connecting cable
- Connect the connecting wire of the wiper motor according to the table below:
