If this is your first time coming to Bogota, the capital city of Colombia, you are going to be really interested because it has a great variety of tourist places, which includes colonial buildings, natural parks, amusement parks, churches, museums, art galleries, etc.
First a short description: Bogota is located at 2600 meters above sea level, was the scene of the proclamation of independence, has an average temperature of 14 degrees Celsius, is a multicultural and religious city, is the most important center of government of the country and is constituted by 20 localities.
The historic center of Bogota is known by the name of La Candelaria, composed by the old neighborhoods of La Catedral, Egipto and La Concordia, counts with a valuable architectural heritage such as several museums, cultural scenery and art exhibitions.
Bogota has a lot of catholic churches through all of it, like Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Ignacio, and the Cathedral in La Plaza de Bolívar, La Tercera San Diego and the sanctuary of Monserrate.
It has a huge variety of museums; the most important is El Museo del Oro, which is a testimony to native Indian culture, other museums are El Museo de Arte Religiosa, El Museo Nacional, 20 de Julio or Casa del Florero, El Museo de Arte Moderna and La Quinta de Bolivar.
If you are interested in going to places for having a good time, shopping, entertainment, gourmet food you should go to the Zona Rosa, Hacienda Santa Barbara, Unicentro, etc., and if you want to see animal sports you can go to the Plaza de Toros de Santamaria to see a good show.
To conclude, you should come to Bogota to have a good time in family, with friends or alone, it doesn’t matter, because you are going to enjoy it and be fascinated with all the things you are going to see and live.
