Hunger Games

It is the first book of the eponymous trilogy written by American author Suzanne Collins. The publisher Scholastic Press published it on 14 September 2008. This is a novel of adventure and science fiction told in first person from the perspective of Katniss Everdeen, a teenager of sixteen who lives in Panem, one located in the post-apocalyptic nation which was previously North America. The book shows in most of the experiences of her in "The Hunger Games", an annual event held in Panem where a boy and a girl from each district to be in age from twelve to eighteen must fight to the death between them while they are seen on national television.

The Hunger Games takes place in a country called Panem, which is actually a post-apocalyptic civilization located in what was North America before. The territory comprises the Capitol, which is the center of the country, and thirteen states under their control, which are called districts. About 100 years ago, District 13 began a rebellion against the Capitol, where a huge number of lives were lost, along with the total destruction of that district. As punishment for avoiding other future surveys, the Capitol created an event called "The Hunger Games", where annually remaining twelve districts must send two tributes, one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to fight to death in an arena until only stay one, while all of Panem watches through television.

The story is told in first person from the perspective of Katniss Everdeen, a teenager of sixteen who live in the poorest of District 12 and the head of the mining activity. He has a younger sister, Primrose Everdeen, who just turned twelve and is his first year as a tribute potential for games, which this time are the seventieth quarters. After both appeared in the parade, they received a standing ovation from the audience, and Katniss in particular was dubbed "the girl on fire."
