Michelle Rodriguez is an American actress. Her parents, Carmen and Raphael, come from the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, countries where the actress resided after leaving Texas at the age of eight.

Con posterioridad regresó a los Estados Unidos con 11 años para instalarse en el estado de Nueva Jersey.

Saltó a la fama por su intervención en su película debut (anteriormente trabajó como extra), “Girlfight” (2000), título de boxeo para el que fue elegida entre casi 400 candidatas que acudieron al casting ofertado en el anuncio publicado en una revista por su directora Karyn Kusama.

Gracias a este papel ganó el premio del National Board of Review de los Estados Unidos a la mejor actriz revelación.
