PURPOSEFUL ACTIVITIES ABOUT TEACHING WRITING BETTER FOR CHILDREN

The emphasis of this essay is to make easier the writing for beginner children in classroom. How many of us, in the past, we struggled with traditionalists, monotonous and boring methods to learn and write English, with some books had confused our learning process by trying to teach too much and even with some tasks had difficulty getting started writing. The process of learning writing should not be stressful for children, when a child is motivated to begin writing, then it is likely the things change, the writing skills can improve. Likewise, children may be interested to write better, if they are introduced to fun and interesting activities that are enable, according to the purpose of what you want to learn.
Every child needs motivation, guidance and assistance. Consequently, learning playing and having fun with purposeful activities and games, it can be good option to help children who cannot get started. Also they can develop their initiative, resourcefulness and self-directivenesssd. Providing occasions for writing in interesting things they like to do or real incidents, experiences, facts and ideas with varieties of activity for children with different abilities, thus they will learn first by thinking and writing carefully. Then it expects them to be able to write by themselves and discovering in what ways it needs improvement.
First of all, is important to help the children to express their main ideas, helping them to organize their thoughts, write some of their ideas on a paper to begin group them. Providing basic skills for their writing like it mention, (Rose, 2001) “under support we find other elements of writing such as tone, voice, word choice, elaboration, extensions, details and description” (p.7). Indeed another important aspect, we must apply to make the writing clear for them. Is necessary to introduce them, rules for grammar, so they can begin to develop an appropriate natural way to begin write words, short sentences, basic phrases etc. according , (Rose, 2001) “convention of print is a broad term referring to all rules of punctuation, grammar, paragraphing, and so on that serve make writing completely clear to the reader”.(p.7). Children need to understand these basic skills, which are appropriate way for their age. If you make sure to introduce these basic concepts, the result be will easier for both you and your children.
Children must be motivated in a friendly environment classroom. Free writing can be the beginning for a child even they do not have the habit to write. According (Grabe & Kaplan, 1996)“. In beginning to write, students need confidence to feel that they can do what is being asked of them”. (p.268). Certainly, most of the children feel excited to work with crayons, colors and peace of papers, pasting drawings, cutting words from a newspaper, magazine, putting puzzles, enough space to write, instead of notebooks that is traditional methods. As (Leonhardt, 1998, pág. 14) say “only children who love writing write the frequency and care necessary for them to become excellent writers”. Giving these resources may create a child´s desire to write. Ensure this kind of method limit distraction in the room. Definitely the chances of their improving, their writing skills will improve.
Writing daily is an important skill to teach children develop in grow vocabulary, spelling, basic writing, as (Grabe & Kaplan, 1996) states. “Students need to expand their uses of writing, to be given more independent opportunities to write and to pursue topics of personal interest”. (P.269). Teachers can make more enjoyable writing with interactive games, activities and illustrated things are a good way to help them to improve writing skills while they are having fun.
Writing teachers can find a valuable resource in pictures: drawings, photographs, posters, slides, cartoons, magazine advertisements, diagrams, graphs, tables, charts, and maps. First of all, pictures provide a shared experience for students in class, a common base that leads to variety of language activities, (Raimses, 1983, pág. 27).
One might object is what happened when the children is not interested to participate in the writing activities? Sometimes working with these activities may create a appositive effect to reach the goal planning. Evidence of this, children who do not want to participate, also who refuses because they do not like the class, or problematic children that can infect the rest of others with such negativity.
