Use:

The Present Simple is used to express:

• An action that happens again and again (a habit) A fact that is always true

• A fact that is true for a long time (a state)

Structure: The form is the same for I/we//you/they

I work from 9-5 p.m.

They don´t work full time

He/she/It: Add-s or-es and use does/doesn´t in questions short answers.

He doesn´t work on weekends

Where does she live?

The Present Continuous is used to express:

 An activity that is happening now

 An activity that is not necessarily happening at the moment of speaking but is happening around now

 A temporary activity

 A planned future arrangement.

Structure: Am/is/are +verb + -ing

The Present Perfect is used to express:

o Express an action that began in the past and still continues

o Experience that happened at some time in one’s life. The action finished, but the effects of the action are still felt.

o Express a past that has a present result.

Structure: Has/have + Past participle

The Present Perfect Continuous

 An activity that began in the past and is continuing now

 A past activity that has caused a present result

Structure: Has/have+ been + -ing
