Rosa Book Report
I. The title of the book is Rosa, and it was written by Elaine Cunningham. This is a fiction book and it has 101 pages. The setting of the story is in Yakima Valley, in eastern Washington State. The main characters of the story include Rosa Gomez family and Betty Baker family. Rosa’s family is composed of Mamá, Papá, sister Graciela, and little brother Juan. II. The story is about a twelve year Mexican girl named Rosa, who goes from place to place while her father, works. Rosa was upset about having to start at a new school, because she was behind in learning and other kids make fun of the way she talks. Shortly before all the apples were harvested, Rosa has to go back home, Betty invited her to sleep over and go to the river next day. Rosa’s knew her parents didn’t allowed her to go to the river, but she wanted to be with her friend so she lied to her parents and told them she will stay at her cousin house. The next day Betty’s little brother Timmy joined them, on his way he fell in the river, Rosa jumped into the river and saved Timmy from drowning. Everyone call Rosa a hero, but she felt guilty because of her disobedience. Soon, Rosa found out her parents had left to Mexico. Betty’s family took Rosa to church and taught her about Jesus and his forgiveness, when Rosa’s parent came back; Rosa asks forgiveness and they forgave her out of love.
