Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines Co. is one of the biggest airlines in the USA and the world’s largest low-cost carrier. Their headquarters are on Dallas, Texas; it was established in 1967 and adopted its current name. The airline has more than 46,000 employees and operates more than 3,400 flights per day. As April, 2013, Southwest Airlines has scheduled service to 84 destinations in 41 states and Puerto Rico.

- Problems

Federal Regulation; at the beginning of the Airline it was supposed to work only on Texas, they think that they could avoid the Federal Regulation but Braniff, Trans-Texas, and Continental Airlines started legal action against them.

Financial Issues; at 1971 they started flying inside Texas, to San Antonio and Houston. They became very popular but the numbers went down because it was too expensive to maintain.

- Solutions

Federal Regulation; After three years fighting in court Air Southwest get the permission to flight and continue with their business getting the legal rights to do it. The judge decided to revoke the revision without any comments.

Financial Issues; One of the three airplanes was sold so they pay wages and other expenses and continue with the schedule of 4 airplanes but using 3. They also have a financial structure for their gas that let them have a cheaper price and also they have a Water Pressure System that helps to clean the turbines and be more efficient with their gas.

- Facts

Southwest carried approximately 128 million onboard customers, which is an average of more than 10 million onboard customers per month.

Southwest led the industry with more than 1,100 pieces of electric ground support equipment, which conserves fuel and reduces emissions.

YouTube

YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim in February 2005, on which users can upload, view, and share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses adobe flash video and HTML 5 to display the variety of videos.

- Problems

Organized Crime: It had happened before that the organized crime have used the website to upload videos of hostages and with use or violence, asking for a payment for them. They uploaded beating, suffering, and weapons against people on those videos.

- Solutions

Organized crime, Violence, Racism: Nowadays YouTube have the option to report the videos that contain that type of themes on them, also people can use the comments, likes, and views in order to check the videos and approve them. The videos that get more than 301 views, are stopped with the counting of views while YouTube is confirming that is ok to be on the website and it appears like 301 or 301+.
