El rascacielos Burj Khalifa mide 828 metros y, por ahora, es el más alto del mundo. Este gigantesco y lujoso edificio está ubicado en Dubái (Emiratos Árabes Unidos).

Debe su nombre al Jeque y presidente de los Emiratos Árabes, Jalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan. 

Se empezó a costruir en setiembre de 2004 con el trabajo de aproximadamente 13.000 obreros, y finalmente se inauguró en enero de 2010.

El Burj Khalifa fue diseñado por un equipo de arquitectos de la firma Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. Los profesionales fueron liderados por el arquitecto estadounidense Adrian Smith, y el inmueble significó una inversión de $1,5 mil millones.

• Cuenta con más de 160 pisos y alberga apartamentos de lujo, oficinas y al Hotel Armani. Tiene 57 ascensores y ocho escaleras eléctricas.
• Cuenta con el lujoso Restaurante “At.Mosphere” y también con un el mirador “At the Top”.  
• Su diseño incorpora elementos de la arquitectura islámica, está inspirado en la flor Hymenocallis y su estructura modular tiene forma de “Y”.
• Una de las razones por las que se manejó este diseño en “Y” fue para disminuir la fuerza del viento sobre la estructura.
• Tiene un fin económico como de publicitar a marcas mundiales y propagar anuncios que ayudan a países del mundo. Esto se ve reflejado en la estructura del edificio.
• Este edificio obtuvo diferentes recórds mundiales: tiene el mayor número de pisos del mundo, el mirador exterior más alto, el mayor nivel de ocupación, tiene el elevador más alto y es la estructura más alta que se sostiene sin la presencia de cables.

The Burj Khalifa skyscraper measures 828 meters and, for now, is the tallest in the world. This gigantic and luxurious building is located in Dubai (United Arab Emirates).

It owes its name to the Sheikh and president of the Arab Emirates, Jalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan.

It began to be built in September 2004 with the work of approximately 13,000 workers, and finally opened in January 2010.
The Burj Khalifa was designed by a team of architects from Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. The professionals were led by the American architect Adrian Smith, and the property meant an investment of $ 1.5 billion.

• It has more than 160 floors and houses luxury apartments, offices and the Armani Hotel. It has 57 elevators and eight escalators.
• It has the luxurious restaurant "At.Mosphere" and also with a viewpoint "At the Top".
• Its design incorporates elements of Islamic architecture, is inspired by the Hymenocallis flower and its modular structure has a “Y” shape.
• One of the reasons why this “Y” design was handled was to decrease the force of the wind on the structure.
• It has an economic purpose such as advertising global brands and spreading ads that help countries around the world. This is reflected in the structure of the building.
• This building obtained different world records: it has the largest number of floors in the world, the highest exterior viewpoint, the highest occupancy level, it has the highest elevator and is the tallest structure supported without the presence of cables.
