China: A dream comes true
Let me introduce myself, my name is Lily Karen, I´m 18 years old, and 3 years ago, I went to the country most wonderful that my eyes could see, the country of China. I remember that day…when I was getting ready, packing my suitcase, I couldn’t believe that the next, I will be in Beijing.
It was July 7 of 2008 in the morning at 5:00 o’clock am, I was in the airport of Tampico, waiting for the plane that would take us (my mom and I ) to Mexico City. Once we reach to Mexico´s Airport, we have a trouble, supposedly a man of the trip agency will give us our passports, but we never find him, he never came, after 3 hours, he arrive and sign over our documents and it that accurate moment, I run to the airline in which my mom and I we have to go and take the flight to Washington, DC. It was awful, we had lost the trip…so, I start to cry in front of all the people in charge of the airline, and one sweet gentleman, took pity of me, and get us a flight to San Francisco is where it would be a plane to Beijing… I was safe!
I arrive to San Francisco, very late, in the night and it was a cold….that…brrrr…. Oh Jesus! , I sleep in the airport because my mother do not wanted to go outside and start looking for a hotel. In the morning I was so tired, I really was , but I was inpatient too, because finally the other day I will be in China !, now, it was 11 o´clock am my flight had arrive, I send a last text message to my uncle that I was about to rise the “American Airlines”. I will not extend me, by telling what do I eat, or watch in the airplane I just going to summarize with this words “ It was amazing , when I see the sun to the other side of the world, I mean, I was flying in the night and to the back the sun´s ray were shining highly”.
The China Airport, was, I don´t know if described it with “ big, exaggerate, beautiful, ware”, or something like that, but there was a lot of people, of many different culture, and rows and huge rows, large rows of people, wanted to pass to the giant China. When we finally pass (of course, after hours of waiting), we went for our suitcase, oh! I have to add that no one, there, speak English, so Thank God! That we hire a lady guide, of course, Chinese, that picked, and took us to the hotel. Well, what I did in China? I go to six differences cities: the first one was Beijing, and I went to visit the “Forbidden City”, “The Chinese Wall”, “The Terracotta Army”, “Tea House”, “Barrio Chino”, I visit a sanctuary, and learn about the Buddhist culture, a black market, the guide took us to a house that show how pearls are done, and the silk house, in which I see all the worms dissected. What did I eat? The first day, I remember that I eat “pato laqueado” , I didn´t like it, the breakfast in China is at 7:00 – 10:00 am o´clock, the lunch at 12:00-14:00 pm, and the dinner at 5:00 pm, in every meal the herbal tea couldn’t fail. I can´t forget the “beautiful” toilets, the toilet there was a hole in the floor, and it was all!, the smell of China it was smelly, we were at 45°C of temperature ( My mother and I drink like 7 bottles of water each day) the hotels were big and large building, I have to mention that it was a lion in almost all building because it represents the “fortune and lucky”, the pollution you could see it in the air, there was a lot of people riding in the bicycle, and at the end when there was missing five days turning back to my country, I went to Hong Kong and everything changes in the way of smell and money, in China the money that is used are the “yeans” but in Hong Kong are the “ dollars of Hong Kong” . Hong Kong is a New York City but the difference is that people have slanted eyes, is the same, about marks, is a “chic city “, very expensive. On July 23, finally I was back to my beautiful city called Tampico. My trip to China was an experience, a lot of
