“ALICE IN WONDERLAND”

Based on “Alice in wonderland” by Lewis Carroll

Alice’s adventures in Wonderland (1865)

SCENE #1: EXTERIOR/DAY (GARDEN)

Alice is sitting on the grass with a book on her lap and she looks at the sky distracted, but then she focus when her sister screams her name.

Sister (Voice over)

Alice, lunch is ready; it’s time to get in!

Alice sighs and gets up.

Alice

I am going Gertrude!

Alice starts walking on the direction of her house but suddenly, a rabbit takes her by the hand.

Rabbit

For god’s sake Alice, here you are! We were waiting for you, it’s getting late, Use those long legs for something!

Alice stops walking abruptly.

Alice

Excuse me, can you tell me who you are and when did animals start talking?

Rabbit

Come on young lady, I don’t have time for your games, we are already late for our party.

Alice

Alice continues walking.

Party? Sir, if you don’t explain to me what is happening I a-

Alice cannot finish talking when she falls into a burrow.

Intermedium: INTERIOR/DAY (BURROW)

Alice falls in the burrow while the scene of the real movie is projected.

GERTHRUDE (Voice over)

Little brat, where did you get?

STAND UP STRAIGHT!

You are late, again! ...

Act as a lady.

SCENE#2: EXTERIOR/DAY (WONDERLAND)

The Mad hatter, the March hare, the mouse and the Cheshire cat are singing the “Unbirthday song”.

CRAZY SQUAD

A very merry unbirthday to me!

MAD HATTER

To who?

MOUSE

TO ME!

CHESHIRE CAT

Oh you!

MARCH HARE

Oh me!

CRAZY SQUAD

A very merry unbirthday to you, to you!

Alice appears on the scene very confused.

ALICE

To me?

MAD HATTER

TO YOU!

CHESHIRE CAT

Come hear Dear Alice, we are inviting you to a cup of tea.

ALICE

Mister Cat, how come do you know my name?

CHESHIRE CAT

Oh dear, this is not your first time.

ALICE

What are you talking about, are you mad?

CHESHIRE CAT

I am not, my reality is just different from yours.

ALICE

Oh, maybe I am the one who went nuts.

MAD HATTER

You are completely insane, but I will tell you something; the best people usually are (he winks).

RABBIT

Enough talking, it’s getting late for the toast, hurry up Alice, come and sit.

Alice sits and the March hare starts serving the tea but making a mess.

MOUSE

(Laughs) Mr. Hare, shall I call you Mr. Berk?

Mad hatter clears his throat.

MAD HATTER

Stop playing childish games, look who just arrived, our Tweedleball couple!, Tweedldum  and Tweedledee it’s so painful to see you!

TWEEDLEDUM

A new member in your Nutty clique, Hatter?

TWEEDLEDEE

Isn’t she Alice?

        TWEEDLEDUM        

Of course she is not!

Tweedle twins start hitting each other softly with their hands.

WHITE RABBIT

Fights are for cats nor for spheres! Instead of fighting, you should be helping Alice to find her way to the castle, the Queen of hearts is waiting for her!

ALICE

Mr. Rabbit, I do not know who the Queen or any of you are, I have had a good time with you but the only thing I need to know is how to get back!

CHESHIRE CAT

My dear Alice, the only way to return to your world is talking with the witch (Coughs) sorry, I meant the queen.

Alice sighs and gets up and the Tweedle twins take her by her hands (Tweedledum/Right hand-Tweedldee/left hand)

MARCH HARE

Goodbye Alice, stay crazy!

MOUSE

We will hear from you soon!

Alice looks back and smiles confused.

ALICE

So which direction shall I take to go to the castle?

TWEEDLEDUM

There (pointing to the hand right side)

 

TWEEDLEDEE

There (pointing to the hand left side)

Alice face palms and sighs in agony.

ALICE

Oh, you do not even know which the correct path is (starts sobbing and cover her face with her hands) I will go on my own, thank you for your help... (Starts walking to the right side)

TWEEDLE TWINS

        You are unwelcome! (Leave the scene walking)

SCENE #3/EXTERIOR/QUEEN’S GARDEN

The Queen of hearts its playing golf when a Playing card whispers in her ear that Alice has arrived.
