The female circumcision
The female circumcision is a process in where a female has her clitoris amputated. In various countries, mostly being where the female virginity or “purity” is highly valued and crucial for marriage, it was a ‘necessary’ and dangerous practice and still very alive today. This practice was more than just a thing to do, it was culture, a custom, and it was the way that life was lived.
This risky practice occurs at a very tender age, somewhere between 7-9 years of age, before the female to be circumcised has her first period. The whole reason of this practice is to preserve the virginity of a woman, but on doing so you are also restricting future and further pleasure to the woman, and where is the fun in that? The clitoris is a cluster of nerves that when stimulated can cause extreme sensations, usually of pleasure, but when removing this cluster of nerves with a razor that produces a deep cut to make sure that nothing is left in a high blood flow area, can cause intense pain, bleeding, infection, and even death. Education on the subject on the consequences of this practice has greatly reduced the actual practice rate and in doing so the actual death rate, and even more so with advanced techniques and medicine.
In another case there are some similar practices in the heart of Africa, where in addition to amputating the female clitoris they also sow shut the opening of the vagina to prevent the female from losing her purity by rape. This practice led to a lot of death due too to infection and to men that did try and rape these women were severely injured in their gentiles. The benefits of the female circumcision are really none to the physical nor to the medical, unlike the male circumcision which is actually hygienic and smart to do, especially since it is usually performed at a very young age before even their first memories, the only “benefit” is the sense of ‘pride’ when you wed being a ‘pure’ woman and wanting to pass along the custom to their own daughters. Men saw this practice as necessary, that if a woman was ‘impure’ she was not acceptable, she was not fit to be a wife.
This practice of female circumcision, in my belief, is nothing but cruel, I do see where the belief comes from, why they would, but I don’t see how they could. Just the thought of the pain a young girl must go through, the sheer torture of knowing that the procedure is going to happen no matter what. I can imagine just how many girls hide from their parents and how many girls died from bleeding out, but knowing that this kills and ruins families one would think that the practice might be abolished, but that is not the case. On the same line, I am glad that with education and understanding this practice has both advanced positively and has been reduced greatly.
