DEVELOP TO THE AMBIENT AND HUMAN CAUSIN FOR THE POLYMERATION ADDITION.
Polyvinyl acetate
In 1912 Fritz Klatte in Germany added acetic acid to acetylene and created compound called vinyl acetate. This turned out to be an extremely useful. Use this compound was creating the Polyvinyl acetate (PVA), which was almost immediately put into use. It revolutionized the paint industry by serving as the "latex" in latex paints. Chewing gum manufacturers capitalized on the rubbery nature of PVA and incorporated it into "gum base." Since PVA is a remarkably non-toxic substance, none of these uses, even its inclusion in eye-liners, has raised an eyebrow.
But the same cannot be said for the compound from which PVA is made, vinyl acetate. And the issue is that PVA always has a trace residue of vinyl acetate, which can "outgas" from the plastic and lead to environmental and human exposure.
Vinyl acetate readily biodegrades, so even though there is some release during PVA production there is no concern about accumulation in the environment.
This’s considerer potentially toxic to humans. The alarm was raised when the International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded that vinyl acetate was a possible human carcinogen.
This was based on several factors. First, vinyl acetate in the body is transformed into acetaldehyde, a known carcinogen. Second, rodents have been show to develop nasal tumours upon inhalation as well as cancers of the upper digestive tract when they consumed vinyl acetate-laced drinking water, albeit in very high doses. Third, in the laboratory, vinyl acetate can affect genetic material in human cells in an adverse fashion.
Certainly no need to avoid gum because of vinyl acetate.
Polyvinyl chloride (or PVC)
Used in toys, clear food and non-food packaging (e.g., cling wrap), some squeeze bottles, shampoo bottles, cooking oil and peanut butter jars, detergent and window cleaner bottles, shower curtains, medical tubing, and numerous construction products (e.g., pipes, siding).PVC has been described as one of the most hazardous consumer products ever created. Is´s creating in base to the Leaches di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) or butyl benzyl phthalate (BBzP), depending on which is used as the plasticizer or softener (usually DEHP). DEHP and BBzP are endocrine disruptors mimicking the female hormone estrogen; have been strongly linked to asthma and allergic symptoms in children; may cause certain types of cancer; linked to negative effects on the liver, kidney, spleen, bone formation and body weight. In Europe, DEHP and BBzP and other dangerous pthalates have been banned from use in plastic toys for children under three since 1999. Not so elsewhere, including Canada and the United States.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (Teflon).
Teflon is a brand name for a man-made chemical known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). It has been in commercial use since the 1940s. It has a wide variety of applications because it is extremely stable.
Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), also known as C8, is another man-made chemical. It is used in the process of making Teflon and similar chemicals (known as fluorotelomers), although it is burned off during the process and is not present in significant amounts in the final products.
Teflon itself is not suspected of causing cáncer but the PFOA
