Blaise Pascal (French Blaise Pascal) Born June 19, 1623 in Clermont-Ferrand, Puy-de-Dôme, France. Died August 19, 1662 in Paris, France. He was a mathematician, physicist and religious philosopher French. His contributions to the natural sciences and applied sciences include building calculators mechanical studies on probability theory, fluids research and clarification of concepts such as pressure and vacuum. Following a deep religious experience in 1654, Pascal abandoned mathematics and physics to devote himself to philosophy and theology. Blaise lost his mother at the age of three years. He and his sister Jacqueline (1625 - 1661) were raised by their father, Étienne Pascal (1588-1651), who was a mathematician. Blaise is considered a child prodigy and was educated by his father.

At age 18, Pascal invented the first calculator digital in 1642 to help his father. The device, called Pascaline, resembled a mechanical calculator of the 1940. This mechanical calculator was able to perform operations such as addition and subtraction (the Zwinger museum in Dresden, Germany has one of his original mechanical calculators). He also wrote a treatise on conic sections in their youth. In 1654, prompted by a friend interested in problems betting, Blaise corresponded with Pierre de Fermat and sent a first approach to the calculation of probabilities.
