Ethos, Pathos and Logos

Aristotle defined rhetoric as an ability, in other words, if you want to be persuasive you have to be very cautious with the words you choose. You have to find the method that works for your specific audience. Aristotle also argued that there are three primary ways to make a persuasive appeal. He calls these logos, ethos, and pathos. These three rhetorical appeals are at the heart of communication.

Ethos is an element of argument and persuasion through which a speaker establishes their credibility and knowledge, as well as their good moral character. It also can be applied to writing and public speaking, and all writers use ethos to a certain extent to establish authority on a given subject and to build trust with readers. Many people use this in the life as a way of talking and expressing ideas.

Pathos is an appeal made to an audience’s emotions in order to evoke feeling is also a key component of literature like most other forms of art, is designed to inspire emotion for the readers. Aristotle writes that pathos is a means of awakening people’s emotions in order to sway their opinion towards that of the speaker. In this we can mention the theater because they express emotions and cause felling's in the audience

Logos is any statement, sentence, or argument that attempts to persuade using facts, and these facts need not be the result of long research. The facts of an argument can also be drawn from the speaker's own life or from the world at large, and presenting these examples to support one's view is also a form of logos. For example, a biography in which they explain the life of someone with full detail.

They are often used in speech writing and advertising to persuade the audience. Understanding the different aspects of rhetoric will make you more aware of what goes into creating a persuasive argument. But the best similarities, is that the tree of them we use to talk in public and it also to create and emphasize with the things that you are saying to your audience.

Ethos involves convincing the audience of the character or credibility of the presenter while pathos involves convincing the audience of an argument by creating an emotional response, and logos involves convincing the audience by reason. Furthermore, another difference between ethos pathos and logos is the way of appeal. Ethos pays attention to the presenter’s expertise, knowledge and experience in the field, and pathos focuses on arousing the feelings and imagination of the audience while logos involves presenting facts, information and evidence.

In conclusion I will say that I like ethos more because I think it suits me better than the other two forms of speaking, I also write but my writing is not always focused in creating emotions to the people so I will say ethos because is very simple if you know what are you doing with persuading a group of people about a topic, with logos is other forms of thinking and creating consciousness with the people nearby so I find logos hard I will say, so yes, ethos is the best in my own opinion.
