The Kritios Boy Formal Analysis: Colors: the sculpture has yellow, brown and even gray marble colors, and for the different position of the light it can be seen clearly than other parts. Line: curve lines. Space and mass: the sculpture is on 3D Scale: life-size Composition: visual effects could be the emotions in his face. Contextual Analysis: What Kritios wanted to express in this sculpture was the athletic body of the people of that age; also he mastered a complete understanding of how the different parts of the body act as a system, because the left leg is firm and the right one is bent, and it balance all the body with a kouros position. “The effect of these technical devices is to create a figure which seems to hesitate to be uncertain about what it is doing and where it will go.” (Pollitt, 17-18).
