By reading this amazing book called Manic Magee, I have learned that there are some kids that grow up mentally so much faster that the normal kids. Manic Magee was that kind of kid. He acted like an adult, he thought like some one older; also he was really responsible with the people he cared about.
Manic was really mature for his age. Maniac didn’t act like an eleven year old he acted like an adult. One example is when he managed to live alone for month. No other kid of that age could have done that and survived. Another example is when he didn’t do anything to Mars Bars when he bullied him by grabbing his book. Only a mature person could manage his anger that way.
Maniac didn’t mind being alone for a long time, when it was necessary he would leave his home. For instance when he left the Beales’s family considering he made them look bad in front of the community. That’s another example of him being more mature because he left a place where he was happy just to make the Beales’s family life easier. Along with this, when he left his uncles because he wasn’t happy, is really rare finding someone so young that isn’t scared of being alone and making the decision of leaving his family.
Maniac was absolutely responsible considering his age. Moreover when he managed to safe two kids from leaving the country, as well as making them go to school. That is an act of responsibility. He showered with the Beales’s twins as they would only shower with him. Any other kid would shower alone and wouldn’t care about them. That makes him some one really responsible.
In conclusion Maniac Magee was mature for his age, he acted very responsibly, he cares about the others a lot, and he thought like an adult. Therefore Maniac wasn’t a normal child; mentally he was like an adult. Why are we predisposed to be what we are?
