Binational Customs
The binational customs allow the U.S. to examine Mexican territorial commercial shipments. The objective of the pilot program is to accelerate the processing of certain elements to improve profitability. One of the main objectives of the system of customs binational border is to reduce wait times for commercial trucks that enter from Mexico through Otay Mesa, where the inspection process can take hours.
The puporse or the binational customs is to have commerce in the country.
The purpose of customs is to facilitate binational commerce between countries and reduce the waiting time between each cross-country, is to promote trade without people thinking that in a long time waiting.
The aim is "to promote efficient inspections increasingly bulky trade between the U.S. and Mexico," according to a joint statement by the Tax Administration Service of Mexico and the Department of Homeland Security United States.
It is a breakthrough for trade by streamlining the ports of entry and exit of goods, give good service to merchants and they feel safe when transporting goods this way. Some business groups hope the project will eventually be expanded to include non-perishable products, such as medical devices and electronics.
"The project can reduce both waiting times, as air pollution and fuel consumption of trucks waiting at the border," said James Clark, director of the Smart Border Coalition San Diego-Tijuana.
Customs Station will start with a pilot of 180 days to inspect perishable goods that are particularly sensitive to the waiting time. Products will be examined as strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables, approved under the National Emission EU Agriculture, which seeks to accelerate the inspection of raw materials, high volume low risk.
