The consumption of alcohol and its effects
According the INEC more than 900.000 Ecuadorians consume alcohol. 89.7% are man, and 10.3% are women. Alcohol addiction has been considered a type of illness in today's societies. Its physical and health consequences are more alarming today and has been the cause of many diseases and even death. Alcohol consumption had caused many problems in the individuals because it has contributed to increase of traffic accidents on roads, depression in consumers and health problems in people.
In octubre 2015, 122 people died in Ecuador on the roads due to fact that people use this substance. It is terrible! First, if an alcoholic person drives, can affect the life of any person. Also, alcohol consumption increases aggressiveness and euphoria in people. For example, if an individual drives under the influence of alcohol, he is less concerned about the consequences of his actions and reduces concentration while driving. Should be considered that driving in an ethylic state, it can cause death to another person, and it can cause risk to your own life.
Excessive alcohol consumption has affected people because they haven`t met their work, school or family obligations. Some people drink alcohol “to solve” emotional problems, and it leads to depression. Also, individuals with depression frequently abuse alcohol and other substances. According to statistics, alcohol consumption has caused dependence on people. Both alcohol and depression develop in the individual health problems. In addition, another problem is the negative impact on mental health as loss of memory or amnesia. Problems with alcohol can lead to serious situation such as suicide.
Alcoholism has produced negative effects on the health of people. First, this substance is very dangerous for individuals because it affects the central nervous system. Besides, Alcohol is a Disorder that it produces several detrimental effects for our body. For example, it delays the ability to react, it causes tired and drowsiness, and it causes obesity. Other problems associated with excessive alcohol consumption include stomach upset, heart problems, cancer, brain damage, severe memory loss, impotence sexual and liver cirrhosis. This addiction has serious consequences for the health of the human because alcohol is a toxic substance and harmful to our body. In the worst cases, it causes death.
In conclusion, alcohol is a psychoactive substance with properties that cause dependence. The harmful consumption of alcohol causes significant social and economic losses for both individuals and society. Alcohol affects the life of a person in several respects. For example, work level, health and personal level. Consequently, the consumption of this substance is reflected more in men than women. Besides, alcohol is the major cause of suicides and deaths in the world due to an increase in traffic accidents and especially to the dependence that this causes in people causing death. All people should know the effects and consequences of excessive alcohol consumption because in that way individuals would be aware of the negative aspects caused by alcohol and avoid great tragedies such as death.
