1 Scope

This Material Specification lists the minimum property requirements for qualification and release of a specific type of material. Unless otherwise indicated, the present specification shall be used in conjunction with the referenced documents.

1.1 Description

This specification establishes the chemical requirements for Ballast Mixture to be used for blade manufacturing via Hand Lay-up (HLU).

1.2 Classification

The material shall be classified according grade andclass, as follows:

Category Acronym Description

Grade BL Ballast Mixture

Class HLU Hand Lay-up

2 Applicable Documents

The following documents form a part of this specification tothe extent specified herein. Reference in this specification to any other document shall be to the latest issue of that document unless specifically stated otherwise.

2 Material Requirements

2.1 Ballast MixtureRequirements

The Ballast material used in the manufacture of blade shall be a mixture of epoxy resin and sand, which should be completely sieve anddry.

Materials supplied according to this standard shall conform to therequirements listed in section 2.1.1.

2.1.1 Processing Properties

2.2 Resin Requirements

The resin used shall comply with [1] and shall be a material listed in the blade manufacturer qualified products list or approved in written by the qualification authority.

4 Qualified Products List

The purchase of material to this specification shall be from a supplier listed in the Qualified Products List (QPL) associated to each Blade Program.
