Art Education in the Dominican Republic Schools
By way of introduction and knowing that the following essay is performed interpretively because it allows to analyze the situations in which Art Education is taught as a subject in this educational center, which allows conclusions to be drawn about what the practice and teaching of this subject is like such. The purpose for which I am doing this essay is as its name indicates, to inform about the teaching process, what it means for the students as a subject, how it influences the school environment and the community as such, that serves as a guide and contributes in my preparation as future teacher of the same.
In addition to this, it is also recognized that in many schools in our country this subject is not taught according to its axes and as indicated by the curriculum, for this reason it is chosen as the main theme of the essay. Therefore, within this we proceed to analyze the center and its main components (student, teacher, school) to recognize how this area is being taught, which allows us to conclude with the purpose or objective of this.
Art Education in several centers of the country, we proceed to say that each of the classes taught are behaviorally oriented, meaning that learning is based only on the acquisition of knowledge and partly constructivism, which is very important within what is Art Education. On the other hand many teachers are not prepared for this specific subject, but over the years have acquired certain knowledge in this area as such, which has allowed him to develop in the classes.
During a period of practice at the Morayma Veloz de Báez Secondary School (2014), it was possible to analyze that arts education as such is not considered an important issue, but rather as a theme of rest.
On the other hand, the students of this center say and think that one of the subjects where they are most rested, if you can say, is in this, since they do not demand as much as others and that the grades are obtained in a less sacrifice. In questions about how this issue affects their lives, 100% most did not have words to say and those who responded, that would be 9% of that 100% said "not many things, but tranquility, rest and relief".
Inspecting the school environment and talking with some of the members of the teaching-learning process, many of the artistic works constructed there are oriented to the Manual or Visual Arts, being this one of the components of integrated Art Education. It should be noted that of the 4 teachers of this subject in the school, only 1 teaches this subject as their only subject of work, the others are shared among other subjects such as Spanish, religion, moral and civic and English or French.
To conclude with this essay or report, it can be said that the objective in which this research was carried out is more than clarified since
