1 Proposal Summary
1.1 Purpose
This document is a direct response to a request by RIM to quote the development of a new strategic label management solution called the ‘Label Creation Tool’ (LCT). This new tool will be used by various teams within RIM to input critical label data during the PRD POS Box label creation process. Some of this data will be automatically pulled from various systems, while other custom carrier data will need to be entered in manually by the CPMs / CPJMs. This manual entry will require business logic to improve the data integrity and reduce transcription errors. This proposal will also require a change to the Label Admin Tool to utilize the new Master Label Template structure for new PRD setups.
This proposal addresses Phase 1 and 2 as defined in the requirements provided by RIM in the documents listed in Section 1.6 of this proposal.
This quote is based on many assumptions that would require validation during a detailed specification review at project kick-off. The main purpose of Phase 1 of the project is to be a Proof Of Concept (POC) of the tool and its capabilities and may not fully integrate with all of RIM systems initially. This will be dependent on RIM’s resource availability and potential system development to integrate into the Label Creation Tool to enable the data exchange. Phase 2 details complete integration of the applicable capabilities within the Label Admin Tool (LAT) to enable full PRD label setup and validation directly within LCT with integrated printing functionality. This quote details the estimations of hardware and effort needed to create this new tool and change the Label Admin Tool to support new PRDs using this tool in parallel with the Label Creation Tool.
Other possible phases of the project would include the following:
- Additional field automation as required
- Replacing the Label Admin Tool entirely
- Have the CPM team complete the entire label setup and promote to production for all PRDs
Note: As per RIM’s request to reduce cost, certain activities / deliverables have been eliminated from this proposal. The RIM team has taken on a more active roll by owning specific items as detailed in Section 2.6.2 which the proposed project schedule is now dependent upon.
1.2 Deliverables
The following will be delivered to RIM at the end of the project:
• Visual C# .NET client application utilizing existing RIM Oracle infrastructure
• LAT modification to support Oracle connectivity for new PRDs
• Documentation, Super User Training, Source code
For additional information, please refer to the detailed sections below.
1.3 Price
