A national study of confidence in leadership

This article starts with a bit of an explanation of how confidence in the United States has been going on the last 2 years since 2008. The last years have been quite difficult for U.S. policy makers and leaders because of the constant issues arising abroad. These years have been one the lowest percentages they have on record, public acceptance its 26 percent, of how much people believe their governors and policy makers are doing their job.

The year 2010 it shows and increment in the percentage from 26 to 38, an increase of 12 percent, this is actually a good sign, because as the country move along with different policies at hand, people is now starting to believe again in their rulers. This is a good thing because is a proof that Americans have faith and hope, which are a very positive feelings to associate with Americans that’s why, rulers do well after a while when foreign affairs are just starting to get better. Confidence is starting to grow again specially because sectors like medical, military, medical and nonprofit are doing so well, its inspiring to all people, and how this sectors keep still going no matter how the difficult times may come.

I think that this graphs are amazing because are a great way to see how everything has been changing since 2005-2010, sometimes this graphs and the values on them are just hitting highs and lows all over the place. All the values are going below average for the last five years, especially in the political affiliation (left, right or moderate) conservatives are regaining ground every year is goes by. All of this is influenced because of the many foreign affairs the U.S. is involved in.

The sectors confidence are the most elevated ones, I can see that because all of this organizations are the ones who always are facing the worst conditions and always coming through. They have the highest sense of values that people get inspired whenever they are in contact with everything they do. For example the military needs the support and the confidence of all the American people to be behind them so they can actually perform their tasks better. Nonprofit and medical are the same, they have the confidence above average, which again here is the same American feeling of hope which gives positive and hope for everything.

On the other side the lowest confident sectors are the ones that are having the worst times in the present, like Congress and Wall Street which, they are struggling since 2008 and have to deal with the crisis which hit America and the world pretty hard, and its has been uphill since then. People are skeptical and fearful of these coming times, they don’t know what to believe or even what to do, because there trust has been violated its hard to get on with a normal pace.

In this harsh times, leaders are not credible to some people, but the person that steps up to the plate, is actually trying to make a change and then people can really start to believe in him and get support on what he is doing.

A very clear example of this is President Barack Obama, and how the economic situation in the U.S. its hitting rock bottom and he is trying to really bring people out of this stalemate economy, especially because he tries to get people to work, by struggling in the legislative branch trying to get people and economy moving.

Times are way harder today than they were 40 years ago. Although crises were different and people were different, back in the day there was The Great Depression, which was one of the worst times in American history, people at that time didn’t believe
