TROPICAL STORM LIDIA
In the first hours of September 1, Tropical Storm Lidia hit the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, causing torrential rains and wind gusts in several states of the country. The natural phenomenon left seven people dead, of whom two were minors. Lidia caused damage to homes and roads.
SISM MAGNITUDE 8.2
At 23:49 hours on Thursday, September 7, southern Mexico was the epicenter of a magnitude 8.2 earthquake, the most powerful of the last century. The quake left at least 96 people dead and 110,000 property damaged in Oaxaca and Chiapas, according to calculations by the federal government. HURRICANE KATIA
Category 1 hurricane made landfall in Veracruz on the night of September 8. The cyclone left two people dead in Veracruz and affectations in 235 homes.
HURRICANE MAX
On Thursday, September 14, Hurricane Max, category 1, hit the coast of Guerrero. As it passed, the meteor left torrential rains, strong winds and high waves in Guerrero, Oaxaca and Michoacán. Two days later, tropical storm Norma also alerted the Baja California peninsula. Luckily, the cyclone only left rains in its wake and caused no major incidents.
SIXTH MAGNITUDE 7.1
At 1:14 pm on September 19, an earthquake magnitude 7.1 shook the center of the country, causing the collapse of buildings in Puebla, Morelos and Mexico City. In the country's capital, 39 buildings collapsed and evaluation protocols are currently being followed to determine the level of damage in thousands of homes. Until this Friday, the earthquake caused 355 people died in Mexico City, Morelos, Puebla, State of Mexico, Guerrero and Oaxaca, informed the head of Federal Civil Protection, Luis Felipe Puente.
