Entrepreneurship is a phenomenon that is not restricted to business creation and
innovation in companies, but manifests itself in various ways, and this can be
approached as something that resides in the action, ie, the action results in an
entrepreneurial action and allows characterization of different types of developers.
Entrepreneurship is a phenomenon not restricted to business creation and innovation
in companies, but manifests itself in different ways, considering different types of
entrepreneurs. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize entrepreneurial
activities associated with types of entrepreneurs in the municipality of Araxá, Minas
Gerais. Based on the entrepreneurs typology proposed by Vale, Amâncio and Lima
(2006), was developed a descriptive, qualitative approach. It was conducted a case
study, whose unit of analysis were managers and entrepreneurs of micro and small
enterprises (MSEs), associations and institutions of Araxá Microregion. Semistructured
interviews were conducted with seven entrepreneurs in various segments,
all of which participate directly or indirectly in any type of network. Data analysis was
performed using content analysis. The results confirm the potential entrepreneur of
Araxá, and the strategic role of the entrepreneurs interviewed in the integrated
development of communities to which they belong. The collective actions reported
focus primarily on the skills and education of the community and the local workforce,
access to credit to micro and small entrepreneurs, intervention in the political sphere
in search of better working conditions and more active participation of the community
they represent. There was also consistency between the actions, speeches and the
results achieved for their business and the community.
