Narrative:

This book talks about a man called George. George loved the sea, so he decided to travel to the Arctic on a ship called The Pioneer. He had a wife called Lettie, she was my sister, and she was afraid when George told her about his trip.

I have a younger brother, his name is Harry, and he loved painting, so he made a painting of George before his trip. And he made it, it wasn’t very good, but was ok and Lettie was pleasured about it.

Before George sailed, he met the ship’s doctor, Vincent Grieve. He brought him to dinner, and I disliked him immediately, ‘cause he sat down very close to Lettie, and he looked more her lover than George. At first, George didn’t noticed about it, but Lettie did, and she was very angry about it.

We were very surprised when he came back the next day, and he told Lettie that if something happened to George during the trip, he will still love her and they could get married. Lettie was very angry about it, and she told him to leave the house at once.

Then, The Pioneer sailed, George sent two letter and we didn’t hear anything about The Pioneer. One year later we saw in the newspaper that George died. Two months later, The Pioneer arrived, and the Dr. Grieve came to see me. And we were talking about George’s death, and he said it was accidentally, that he fell down into the ice, and that he died. The next day, when I went to my house, Lettie was there, very angry, because Dr. Grieve asked to marry him, and then the painting of George fell down in Grieve’s head, then he fell down and she called the doctor. Then we called a nurse to stay with him in the night, so at 12 o’clock, she came running to Lettie’s room and told her that Grieve was talking with a shadow, so we went running to the room and we saw it, Grieve was talking with a second shadow, and he told it that he killed him cause he wanted to get married with Lettie, and then he jumped out of the window and ran away. Two days later, the police found his body in a river.
