Funza is one of the 116 municipalities in the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. It is located in the West at 14km Bogota city. Bogotá city is the Colombia's capital, city with the best industrial and comercial activity, Funza enjoys this proximity of Bogotá because its habitants use Bogota's comercial. Funza is in the central of country, this zone is very cold, thus Funza is very cold, its average anual weather is 14 Celsius grades,
Probably in his village of El Cacique, was the settlement of the Bacatá population, most important city Muisca people, one of the most advanced indigenous groups encountered by the Spanish upon their arrival in the Indies, but the Muisca Prince received the education in the current Chia town.
Funza means “Mighty Male" city that initially received Muequeta names meaning "savannah field or farm" and Bacatá is "Fencing off the farm".
Bacatá was called to extinction in 1539, leaving the Indians without town, until 20 April 1537 was the capital of Zipazgo, because its Bojacá Zipa was taken and killed by the Spanish. On 20 July 1600 the judge Diego Gomez de Mena Foundation issued a writ of Pueblo Nuevo de Bogota, and by deed 31 July 1601 Santa fe subscribed to the lawyer hired by the mason Gómez Domingo Moreno, the construction of a church stone and tile in The New People of Bogota.

By decree of September 6, 1810, the board of Santa Fe supreme gave him the title of Villa de Santiago de Bogota right to council, coat of arms and to mark their territory by a geographer. By the Act of Congress of Angostura, December 17, 1819, was given the name Santa fe de Bogotá and proceeded to appoint the Governor of Cundinamarca Provisional Capital for your state, naming General Justo Briceño, through decree Funza as state capital, and ordered the transfer of the Government to that place; dated September 2 Funza was ratified as Capital. For lack of offices and housing for civil servants, and other infrastructure problems Zipaquirá was designated as a state capital, through Article 55 of the constitution of July 10, 1863, moving the 1st officers in August of the same year.
