Transit accidents are one of the main problems of our society, the Dominican Republic is the second leading country of the one hundred eighty two countries that belong to the united nations per a thousand people, with a ratio of about forty one point seven percent death and only Niue –en in the pacific is ahead of the Dominican republic with a sixty eight point three percent.
The Dominican Republic has a ten million population; this ratio of death is amazing for a country with a low population like the Dominican Republic, transit accidents accounts for the majority of this death, some of the major reasons rely on drunk drivers, drivers not respecting the red signal light and speeding the limit speed is a real problem too. Even worse big trucks driven a very high speed for the middle of the streets and avenues cause a lot of problem as well. During night time things get even worse, because there is not enough polices officers at the streets and drivers tend to pass out the red light.
Around fifteen percent transit’s victims are officially register per day, which at least sixty two result in death.
Young people are the most affected sector of transit accidents, the average ages are between fifteen and twenty nine years old, this is probably the first cause of death in the Dominican Republic. The seventy nine percent of all the death correspond to people lees than sixty years old.
Like in any activity when we drive a vehicle there is a certain risk that we must take, there are a group of rules that we must follow when we are driving, these rules are common senses rules set by the national transportation agency.
There are important things you must remember when you are driving, for example: the most essential is to not drive tired, take a rest then drive. Pay attention to what you doing, and always watch to the front. Give people an opportunity to go first, also keep a considerable distances between vehicles.
One important thing is to keep you car in good conditions. Look for any kind of problem with the brakes, signal lights and main maintenances, always remember to use the seatbelt while you are driving and never drink alcohol while you driving.
