EVOLUTION OF WOMAN AT WORK
It wasn´t not that far, one group of people dedicated all their lives to their families and their houses. They can not work because there are not “suitable” for industries and business. Why are women not suitable? Why did it change?
In this project we will developed the change of women at work and their characteristics. Firstly we will focus on social change and how it happened. Secondly, we will highlight the relevant movement for women to get to work. Finally, we will analyze the work of women and their current conditions in Spain.
SOCIAL CHANGE
In the history of work, women have been undervalued since men throughout our history have devoted themselves to physical work, mainly to agriculture and industrialization.
Women have been represented throughout history as housewives dedicated to being mothers, taking care of household chores and crafts.
It was in the industrial revolution when women, although to a lesser extent than men, began to earn their own salary as families left rural life behind to move to the cities where factories and offices were. There were two big changes in the lives of the little girls and women for the acquisition of employment.
- The education of the twentieth century that helped girls to train for the world of employment.
- The multi-employment of women who worked in factories with rotating shifts for less salary than men without unions or decent working conditions and at home with random craft work, apart from being housewives. The women of the twentieth century were housewives, they also looked after the children and did the houseworks. They were depicted as the weak sex.
- It was in times of war when men fought in wars and women took care of 100% of the factories and performing physical work when women were given more empowerment to women who needed work so that they and their families could survive wars.
BIG MOVEMENTS:
- To participate in the armed forces.
Women participated in the war differently than men since they excluded and omitted us to do physical work. Women were nurses taking care of men.
In NATO countries the recruitment of women in the army was not possible until 1970.
The first countries to include them in the army were ( Canada, USA, Denmark and France).
