Lies behind the Appearance

        Today we have access to thousands of social networks and information, in Colombia we have many local media, on television we have RCN, Caracol, NTN 24 and others and on the newspaper we can see , El Tiempo , El Espectador, ADN , Nuestro Pais and others. But these channels, newspapers or radio stations, really communicate us or show us the truth of the news?

        Day after day we see that the news in Colombia are not good, we didn’t know so many important news, because they are overshadowed by the less important events, but more commercial, prefer transmit on channels or published in newspapers. We can always see that the must news transmitted are extremely violent events or bad things, that create a bad images of the country or the people, more of the 50% of the news in Colombia are bad or violent, but this is not because Colombia is a bad country, this is because the media is it just interested in sell an history and have good ranking. For example Luis Carlos Galan speech against drug trafficking, that so many Colombians forget o didn’t know that happen because this was not transmitted on the news.

        An example of what news are doing is bad, is: El Espectador one of the most important newspapers in the country, which is from the Santos family, which we all know is the president's family. This not only creates many problems, also shows favoritism towards the president, avoiding the bad news about him, or softening the facts shows. Also we see in that the news invest more time talking about sports or tv shows that on the things that happen every day in the country.

        But as in everything, there is also a good side, every day this country becomes better known, thanks to athletes like James Rodriguez and Mariana Pajon, or artists like Shakira and Juanes, which are met worldwide, thanks to the media and their talents, they have managed to show another side of Colombia to the world, achieving share our culture and show that we are more than drugs and violence, and that this country has many good things to show

        We can conclude that as in everything, we have so many bad things in news in Colombia and in general as a country, corruption, lack of interest, violence, and more. But bad things should not overshadow the good thing that the country have and thanks to the news has been seen worldwide.
