The film tell us how is the everyday of Joosep and Kaspar, as secondary school pupils in Estonia. Both are subjected to ridicule, contempt and humiliation by his classmates.
Joosep is a young introverted, shy, sad and serious. To his classmates is the rare of the class. Joosep can’t defend or say anything when it is about to be beaten by his classmates. Kaspar avoid sometimes to his classmates hits Joosep, and in the early days, Kaspar protects him from the others, but then he decides that will take care of the situation.
Kaspar is one of the young people in the class who know how to defend himself. He feels sorry for Joosep because he doesn’t fight to defend himself. The leader of the class, Anders, forces him to stop defending the poor guy. However, he doesn’t pay attention to what Anders says and he continues defending his friend.
Anders is the leader of the class and Joosep’s enemy. It's cocky, boastful, and more mocking. When Kaspar defends Joosep from Anders beating him with a chair, he tells him to stop defending it. Kaspar stills defending Joosep and Anders starts treating him the same way.
This is a really good film a Little bit extreme but really helpful to avoid this in our secundary schools, I haven’t seen a movie like this, but now I know that we as a teachers have a big responsability with the students, we have to do more than just teaching in a classroom but then the movie show us a reallity that’s actually happening everywhere and anybody can’t stop this.
What the teachers didn’t do to avoid the problem?
It’s clear that in the movie nobody pays atention to the students, teachers were just worried on teaching more than know what’s going on out of the classroom. What teachers should do is to talk with the students and watch them out, and also if the teacher see a problema in the classroom try to solve it in the moment. Teachers alwayas are like blind they don’t wanna see the rallity and that’s why this problem is happening in the schools. Teachers should talk with the parents, in the movie they just called them to avoid the situation but they didn’t do anything. Teachers has the control in the schools and when the see that Joosep and Kasper were comming with the guns the just watched them but they didn’t do anything! What the hell!!! They have to act, because if we act in the right time many situtations can be avoided.
What Should I do to avoid that situation?
- Walk around the school to see what’s happening and make sure that everything it’s ok.
- Talk with the students that have problems and aslo with their parents to solve any situation.
- Check every backpack to avoid students carry weapons.
- If I see an irregular situtation let the principal know immediately to take it into account.
The main thing is that we should not overlook any signs of violence among young people, because it begins with a simple
