Introduction
What is motion? This question is easily answered that motion is a change in position of an object with respect of time and its reference point. And how do we measure motion? Thankfully, we have Mechanics. Mechanics is the study of the motion of objects and the related conceps of force. Mechanics divides itself in two parts: kinematics and dynamics. Kinematics is the descriptions on how objects move while dynamics deal with force and why do the objects move as they usually do.
Motion goes by three laws that were proposed by Sir Isaac Newton. The first law of motion or law of inertia, states: “An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force while an object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force”. The second law of motion states: “An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force”. And finally, the last law of motion is a law that can you apply on a everyday basis because it states that “for every action there is an equal and opposite re-action”.
