Objective:
• Learn the different types of sentence adverbs and to use them.
Procedure:
1. I went to Unit 5; Television and Reading.
2. Then in Lesson B page 41 I do the section A,B and C of the exercise 3.
3. In the section A I went to page 40 and found the adverbs in the sentences.
4. In section B I change the sentences with an adverb.
5. In Section C i choose 3 trends and make a sentence with sentence adverbs.
Results:
Section A:
• Obviously, everything you find in a book you can learn from TV and movies, so reading is a waste of time.
• The internet and e-books could potentially lead to the end of the printed books as we know them.
• Overall, people are putting too much emphasis on technology. The content of a book or article – the ideas passed from one human to another – is what truly matters.
• We will probably see must public libraries close their doors when all homes are connected to the internet.
• Internationally popular novels like Harry Potter will clearly have the effect of unifying the world’s taste in literature.
• Not surprisingly, literature doesn’t interest people as much as it used to, given there’s so much other reading material now available.
• Amazingly, more than half of the books that people start reading remain unfinished.
• Parents are apparently instructing their children in reading at younger and younger ages in reaction to the increasingly competitive education standards.
Section B:
1. Surprisingly, girls read more fiction than boys.
2. Probably, movies will replace many forms of literature.
3. Honestly, people nowadays rarely read serious literature.
4. Clearly, the internet will soon beat out all other forms of reading material is all age groups.
5. Potentially, the internet could improve people’s reading and writing skills.
6. Amazingly, some companies now sell machines that produce single copies of books.
7. Possibly, electronic books will replace paper books sooner than we think.
Section C:
1. Unfortunately, nowadays adolescents read more magazines than books.
2. Not surprisingly, blogs will become the new libraries of the internet cause’ it’s an easy source to get.
3. Obviously, television and computer games will pass out the books, libraries and literature.
Conclusion:
Sentence adverbs always will change the whole meaning of our sentences; also give them the speaker’s attitude. But we have to learn to use it in a correctly form because if we mistake it could sound bad.
