PART1 IMPROVING MY ENGLISH LEVEL

I started to learn English when I was 9 years old.First I started at "San Carlos Institute", but I had only one hour a week and it was not good enough. My parents decided to find me a better place to learn English and I went to the University of EAFIT for 2 years. When I was studying at EAFIT my parents decided to change me from my old school to another called “ Colegio Canadiense” because they said that the English level was higher than other schools. Since I have been at this school, I’ve been learning a lot of English. I think my English level is higher than the level of some other friends that do not study in a bilingual school, so I am very happy and proud to have the opportunity to learn this universal language.

During my English process I've had a lot of teachers. Some of them were angry , others quiet and some others that aren’t memorable. I will always remember one teacher. His name was Luis Guillermo. He was the art teacher too, so he drew us funny faces or something that made us have fun, and then he planned activities like discovering some verbs or talk about news .If we discovered what he was thinking , he gave us some candy or he drew somebody in a funny way. For me it was a good way to learn especially when you are a kid. I also remember a teacher called Duban. He always brought a song with some words in blank so we could listen to the song fill in the blanks and we would all sing it together. When we finished singing he would ask us if we had any vocabulary question , and then he explained each word so that way we could learn a lot of new words about any topic just by singing a good English melody.

In the English process I expect to learn a lot of vocabulary. I think English nowadays is one of the most important languages that everybody should know. Everything contains English. Most of the books are in English, especially university books, so it´s extremely important to know the language . Generally, I paid attention during class, but sometimes the class is boring so I prefer to talk with some friends. I know it isn´t good for my progress, but I think I am very responsible because I do all my homework and the activities; and that is a contribution to my progress. Sometimes I try to speak in English with my brothers at home but it´s very funny because our pronunciation is not the best so it's kind of ridiculous sometimes If we continue doing that it can be interesting because when I have to talk with somebody that only speaks English, I will be prepared and I won’t be scared.

Four years ago when I went to the United States, I tried to speak with the people but I couldn't, because my vocabulary wasn´t extensive. I felt sad because I saw my brother talking without shame and I asked myself, “why can´t I speak like him ?” Now I think I am prepared to talk to someone in English.
